「The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) - Artist-in-Residence」
In 2016, the CUHK-Shenzhen also initiated the Artist-in-Residence Program in the campus to create an artistic atmosphere on campus and to elevate student's aesthetic taste. The school regularly invite top artists from various fields to reside on campus, create artworks and hold workshops with students.
The program may last 5-10 days or 1-2 months. Artists will work with or guide students to create or appreciate artworks through workshop or lectures. Artists will also take into account resources available off campus to contribute towards our development.
Director Poon was invited as one of CUHK-Shenzhen Artist-in-Residence in 2017.
Director Poon (Poon Peter Wai Keung) introduced the evolving theatre art by tracking down the history of theatre drama. He took the drama of Ancient Greek as the case to analyze the difference between the dramas on stage and on screen.
Director Poon talked about six training methods of performing and invited the students to try them. It was a lot of fun.
At the same time, Mr. Poon was also the director of stage drama “The Beauties in Political Turmoil” played by students and staff of CUHK-Shenzhen. The drama was written and adapted by Dr. Anita LEUNG Fung Yee, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China. It took him only two months, leading a cast that had never had any acting training to give a fantastic performance. He presented his expertise and full engagement of artistic pursuits in every minute of rehearsal and the final show.
